1つ1つのトレーニングについて正しいフォーム・原理の指導、1回の動作ごとのフィードバックがあったため、正しいフォームが身につき、より効果的なトレーニングを行えました。また、メニュー量・負荷量が適切で、「きついけど最後までやり切れる」くらいのメニューであったため、十分なトレーニング効果と達成感を味わうことができ、さらなるモチベーションにつながりました。また、トレーニング中には気合が入るような声掛けをしてくださり、楽しみながら出来ました。個人の能力や性格を見極め、それぞれの目標・モチベーションにぴったり合ったトレーニングメニューを考えてくださっていたと思います。

I have worked with trainer Kota Shimada ta the Lifetime Fitness in Fairfax, VA since I had double hip replacement in 2011. After my prescribed physical therapy ended, I inquired at Lifetime about whether they had someone who was especially knowledgeable about working with people who had had joint replacements. Kota was enthusiastically recommended, and I have been working with him a minimum of twice a week since that time.

 

There are many reasons why Kota was a good fit as a trainer for me. I have ahd both knees and both hips replaced and have been struggling to regain normal mobility since the final hip surgery. It has not been easy. I have had trouble with swelling in my legs; my neck has consistently been a reflection of any stress I am experiencing; my balance and endurance continue to be challenge. Kota has been able to work with all of that and we have made great progress.  When I started, I was in a wheelchair. I progressed to a walker, and now walk with cane but hope someday to be able to walk independently. Because Kota has a wide range of knowledge, which includes advanced study in exercise physiology, he is able to respond to challenges as they arise and come up with suggested solutions. His patience is limitless; he is encouraging and positive no matter how negative I may be at any given time. As a result, that keeps me going and makes me determined to conquer any obsticle to my mobility. He is able to interact with the youngest to the oldest members at the club, addressing the needs specific to each age group. For instance, he works successfully with a group of teenage soccer players, helping them stay in top condition for their sport as well as working with other senior citizens like me who are interested in maintaining as much normal movement as possible. In addition to his professional characteristics, Kota is personally engaging and interested in his clients and their well-being. I feel as if each session he assesses my capabilities at the beginning of our time and customizes that workout. His ability to think on his feet like that is a gift.

Kota has been my trainer for almost 2 years and I have been very impressed by his passion to help clients, especially those with disabilities - like me, a person with Parkinson's. And more importantly, he is committed to keeping his education current and striving to be the best he can as a trainer.

I want to express my thanks for all work you did to help me prepare and then recover from my foot reconstructive surgery.  Little did you know when you met with me for help with my "golf elbow" that you would be working with me for other issues as well.  Your guidance with strengthening my upper body to decrease the load on my elbow has allowed me to continue playing golf 2-3 times per week pain free.  I'm driving the ball further and gradually seeing my handicap go down (from 27 to 23).  Thank you for also making sure my back was protected from injury during our training times.

 

The work we did on balance and ankle strength prior to the foot surgery helped so much during  my 8 weeks of non-weight bearing.  I felt strong and safe as I moved about on crutches.   As soon as I was able to bear weight on my foot we worked on strength and flexibility to ensure that I would have full range of motion.  My foot is fully healed and I'm back to walking 30+ miles per week.   I know my recovery would not have been a success without your guidance and encouragement.  Thanks so much for all your help.

When Kota became my personal trainer over three years ago, I was in fairly good shape for a women in 60's but suffered from arthritis. At that time, my right knee was so painful that I had serious difficulty on going down the stairs. Kota developed a plan for meto build up the muscle in legs, as well as overall strength and fitness, which has proved to be highly effective. I no longer have any issues with stairs, my knees and other joints are much less painful, and I feel stronger and more fit than I have felt in over 30 years.

 

In working with Kota, I have found him to be extremely knowledgeable, professional and motivating. He has quiet and steady personality which makes him able to "push" you to the next level without being pushy. His sensce of humor often helps to keep the sessions fun and interesting. He is also incredibly talented in adjusting exercises to take into account my limitations while still getting the needed benefits.

 

I have worked with several other trainers over the years but Kota clearly outshines all of the others. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him and highly recommend him.

I am a member of Lifetime Fitness Club in Fairfax, Virginia and have been a client of Kota Shimada for nearly four years.  Working with Kota is the best exercise program I have ever had, and I am 63 years old!

 

Kota teamed me with  a workout buddy for an hourlong training session.   His preparation for us includes knowledge of our specific physical issues and our goal of conditioning and strength-building.  The day's workout schedule is clearly documented and a copy for our future use is ours to keep.  Three days later, my teammate and I meet and again use that workout plan.His field of knowledge  in  exercise science is extensive and serves well in his personal training career.  He actively continues to stay current in the field of health and physical sciences and it is obvious in our training  sessions.

 

My workout buddy and I agree that we are not looking forward to losing Kota as our trainer but anyone  who signs on with him as their trainer, will be very happy
